Everything you might wonder about.
Sizing, framing, shipping — the most-asked questions for this collection.
What size wall art should I get above my sofa?
Approximately two-thirds the width of the sofa below. A 5-foot sofa (60 inch) wants art around 40 inches wide — a single 28×40 inch horizontal print works perfectly. A 7-foot sofa (84 inch) wants art around 56 inches wide — either a single 28×40 inch sized at the upper end or a paired arrangement. This 'two-thirds rule' applies to 95% of wall art sizing decisions.
Is 28×40 inch too big for my wall?
Probably not — most buyers undersize. The two-thirds rule means a 28×40 inch print suits any furniture piece from 42 inches wide upward, which covers most sofas, beds, consoles, and dining sideboards. The most common wall art regret is buying too small; the most common solution after hanging is going back for a larger size.
Do I need a special hanger for oversized canvas?
Our 28×40 inch canvases ship with a sawtooth hanger pre-installed. For drywall, use a single heavy-duty picture hook rated for 30+ lbs (typical canvas weight is 6-8 lbs, well within margin). For plaster walls, use a wall anchor rated for 25 lbs minimum. No special tools required beyond a stud finder if you want to anchor into a stud (optional but recommended for prints over 10 lbs).
Will an oversized print overwhelm a small room?
Counterintuitively, no — one large statement piece in a small room often makes the room feel larger by giving the eye a single anchor point and reducing visual clutter. The mistake in small rooms is hanging multiple small prints, which fragment the wall and emphasize the limited space. One large print, sized correctly, creates depth and order.
Should I get oversized art on paper or canvas?
Paper for refined placements (above the bed, in entryways, in master bedrooms) where you want a thin frame profile and crisp color fidelity. Canvas for bold placements (above the sofa, in living rooms, in dens) where texture and dimensional presence add to the impact. About 60% of our oversized customers choose paper; 40% choose canvas.
How high should I hang oversized wall art?
Above sofas and beds, the bottom of the frame should be 6 to 10 inches above the furniture (giving visual breathing room without disconnecting from the piece). For standalone wall placements like entryways and stairwell landings, the visual center of the print (not the center of the frame) should be at standard eye level — about 57 to 60 inches off the floor.
Can I get other sizes besides 28×40 inch?
Yes — every design in our oversized collection is also available in 12×16 inch, 20×28 inch, and 24×36 inch sizes. However, the designs are composed specifically for impact at the 28×40 inch scale; smaller sizes work fine but lose some of the statement quality the larger format provides.
